Jeff Enfield announced that the 2018 WSATI Training Seminar, hosted by the Northern Chapter, will take place October 8-10, 2018, at the Mont Bleu Resort in South Lake Tahoe. He said that information was posted on the WSATI website and it wasn't too late to register for the Seminar.
Jeff then introduced the Guest Speaker, CHP/San Diego County RATT Investigator Kraig Palmer, who gave an abbreviated presentation of his "Vehicle Hacking - Vehicle Security, and How to Defeat It" class. Kraig's class was well received by the attendees and everyone now has a better understanding of the differences between social engineering, relay attacks, and hacking.
Following the presentation, the raffle was conducted by Mick O'Neill, with the help of Johnny Miyasaki, and Melissa Somers. The raffle helps raise money for WSATI funds that assist in putting on future seminars, as well as supporting events such as the San Diego and Orange County ATAC Vehicle Theft Recovery Officer of the Year programs. SPY Optic Sunglasses & Goggles also provided some raffle prizes to assist WSATI. Spy Optics Brand Manager, Curtis Ellis, and Spy Optics Vice President of Revenue - Digital, John Gilson, spoke with the attendees.
Following the raffle, Jeff invited those who purchased luncheon tickets to enjoy their lunch while networking with the others in the room. A catered lunch of "Gourmet Tacos and Mexican Fixins" by Jose Cicero of Taquizas Jose was provided to the attendees. This luncheon was enjoyed by the Meeting attendees.
Following the luncheon, Melissa Somers opened up the Roundtable Discussion. Webmaster Gary Labb (Santa Ana Police / OCATT [retired]) advised the attendees of the encrypted online networking roster and gave the attendees the password to allow them access to the roster.
O'Neill spoke about the 2019
WSATI Training Seminar, hosted by the Southern Chapter, that
will be taking place in October 2019 in San Diego at the San
Diego Marriott Mission Valley. He invited the
attendees to spread the word to their peers, especially the attendees
from the San Diego area.
There were several new faces that came to the meeting, as well as several "old" members who had not been to the meetings in some time. Thank you all for your attendance.
Jeff announced the next meeting / luncheon would be held on November 15, 2018.The meeting was adjourned.
