Jeff requested that Mike Carnakis (LASD / TRAP) lead the attendees in the pledge of allegiance.
Jeff introduced the other Southern Chapter Officers who were in attendance:
Vice President Mick
WSATI Southern Chapter Past Presidents who were in attendance:

Jeff then introduced Guest Speakers TRAP / L.A. County District Attorney's Office Deputy District Attorney Alex Karkanen, and L.A. County District Attorney's Office Auto Insurance Fraud Deputy District Attorney Elaine Ramsey.
Following the training, Jeff requested that Past President Heather Roberts (Liberty Mutual SIU) come to the front of the room. Jeff then presented Heather with her thank you plaque for being the 2017 WSATI Southern Chapter President.
Jeff then requested that Melissa Somers, Executive Director of the Crime Prevention Program for the Construction Industry of Southern California, come to the front to present their Annual John Hootman Memorial Award. Also coming forward was CPP of SoCal Board President Tim Karle and former President Wes May. Melissa went over the background of the award. She then recognized past Award recipients in attendance. Melissa then spoke about the 2017 Award Recipients, Riverside (County) AutoTheft Interdiction Detail (RAID) Investigators John Nogues and John Rodriguez (Please refer to the link at John Hootman Memorial Award to read about their investigation). She then called them up to the front to receive their Award.
Melissa then said that CPP wanted to present a Lifetime Achievement Award. She then called Dennis Frias (OCRA / Locator Technologies) up to the front of the room.
Jeff then requested that WSATI Southern Chapter Vice President Mick O'Neill (Hagerty Insurance SIU) come up front. Mick then presented the 2017 IAATI WRC Executive Board Achievement Award to Sergeant Sean Brown and the Riverside (County) AutoTheft Interdiction Detail (RAID) Team.
Following award presentations, Jeff had the attendees do self introductions. Webmaster Gary Labb (Santa Ana Police / OCATT [Retired]) spoke about the networking encrypted roster available to the attendees via the WSATI website. Gary gave the password to the attendees.
Following the self introductions, Jeff invited those who purchased luncheon tickets to enjoy their lunch while networking with the others in the room. The attendees were able to enjoy an abundant amount of great food provided by Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que. There was enough for seconds and even enough for some take home boxes. To say that everyone enjoyed their meal is an understatement.
Following the luncheon, the raffle was conducted by Mick O'Neill and Chapter Officers. The raffle helps raise money for WSATI funds that assist in putting on future seminars, as well as supporting events such as the San Diego and Orange County ATAC Vehicle Theft Recovery Officer of the Year programs.
There were several new faces that came to the meeting, as well as several "old" members who had not been to the meetings in some time. Thank you all for your attendance.
Jeff announced the next meeting / luncheon would be held on March 15, 2018 in Van Nuys. The Guest Speaker has not yet been confirmed. Please check back here for the future posting of the Guest Speaker information.
The meeting was adjourned.
