his leadership in 2016. She also thanked all the Committee members
and especially the attendees who really helped make the 2016 Training Seminar
Heather then introduced the other Southern Chapter Officers who were in attendance:
Vice President Jeff
Heather then asked the the WSATI Southern Chapter Past Presidents to please stand and introduce themselves:
Skip Davidson (1992), Gary Labb (2000), Bill Lovold (2001), and Lou Koven (2002).
Heather then asked Melissa Somers, Executive Director of the Crime Prevention Program for the Construction Industry of Southern California, to come to the front to present their Annual John Hootman Memorial Award. Also coming forward was CPP of SoCal Board President Tim Karle. Melissa went over the background of the award. Melissa then spoke about the 2016 Award Recipients, CHP Inland Division Investigators Kasey Banuelos and Jeff Strout (Please refer to the link at John Hootman Memorial Award to read about their investigation).
Heather then introduced the Guest Speaker Kevin Letson, Farmers Insurance Special Investigations Unit. Kevin gave a presentation on "Body Shop Fraud."
Heather then requested everyone to introduce themselves and if they had information to share with the attendees to please do it at this time. During this roundtable, several people spoke. Past President / Webmaster Gary Labb (Santa Ana Police / OCATT [retired]) also gave the attendees the password for the online encrypted attendance roster that can be used for networking.
Following the roundtable, the raffle was conducted by Mick O'Neill, Jeff Enfield, and Johnny Miyasaki. The raffle helps raise money for WSATI funds that assist in putting on future seminars, as well as supporting events such as the San Diego and Orange County ATAC Vehicle Theft Recovery Officer of the Year programs.
Following the raffle, Heather then invited those who purchased luncheon tickets to enjoy their lunch while networking with the others in the room. The attendees were able to enjoy an abundant amount of great food provided by Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que. There was enough for seconds and even enough for some take home boxes. To say that everyone enjoyed their meal is an understatement.
There were some new faces that came to the meeting (about 20), as well as several "old" members who had not been to the meetings in some time. Thank you all for your attendance.
The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be on March 16, 2017.
